Yes, a big horned sheep could be born with no horns. Whether or not they successful reproduce is another issue.

Aj, the site with that British breeds map has a page for extinct breeds.
One is Orkney Polled cattle.
A search of Google books brought up some pretty neat things.
One book about the Picts talks about 'bog butter', stored in wooden casks and buried in the bog.
Another gives all kinds of ancient names for color patterns and the languages of the names.
Another talks about Scottish/Norwegian admixtures ( new word I learned yesterday). A neat kind of horse like that.
