Is it normal for judges to not touch the calves in quality? Every fair that I've been to, the judge will run their hands up and down the calf's sides to see how finished/muscular/etc they are. At the jackpot I went to, the closest the judge even got was like a foot away. Also, are we supposed to set the feet up staggered when setting up next to each other? Obviously on the rail you are, but I thought we were supposed to be square when next to each other.

They usually only put hands on them at a terminal, market steer show.

I wish they put hands on them at all ages.
That makes sense, but I do wish they would do it at all ages- it might show them that the big steer is really just wayyy over finished and the smaller one, though pretty, isn't even close
