I have never had much luck selling livestock.  If you guys can't sell something do you just take it to the livestock auction and count your losses or do you have any suggestions on how you all advertise and get things sold?  ???

Depends on how good the calves are.  I have two calves this year that I couldn't get sold and kept them both to show.  One is the best heifer I've ever raised, and one is a pretty decent steer.  We usually advertise some, and actually take very few to the sale barn anymore.

We generate alot of our sales at our state fair.  We always take a couple calves with us and if we generate interest we have the interested parties come out to our place.  Usually they fall in love with something else and forget about the one they initially came to look at.  We have really been moving some cattle the past couple of years.
