I have a pasture with not alot of trees in it.  I am thinking about building shades for the cattle.  Does anyone have a design for one I could build or thoughts on materials?

I saw some at Cyclone Trace that I really liked.  They are built to transition from shades in summer to windbreaks in winter.  You might want to talk to John Hagie or Pete Hunter about them and see how they like them and how they're made.

Black cattle can't tolerate heat quite as well as black cattle. I would think black cattle would need shade.

in some pastures, the calves all congregate under the shades like worms in a can and the potential buyers are in a circle around them.  I am not sure how ever get a good look at a calf in that situation.  I suspect that is one of the down falls of shades.
