We live in Ms and will be hauling 2 bred heifers and 1 8mth old heifer to Louisville Ky. Our trailer has rubber mats should I still put shavings? We will haul them about 5 hours then stop at a friends and put them out for the night then haul the other 6 hours. Thanks for your help

we always put down 8 inches of coarse sawdust when we hauled more than 4 hours total, could have been overkill but we never had on get stove up from riding

The shavings will also help keep the mats from getting slippery from calf urine.

We had inch & a half rubber mats, and  8" of shavings watered down and packed. Once hauled 24 hours straight and Showed Calves two days later with no I'll effects. Always tied them low so they could easily get up and down
