I am kicking around breeding our shorthorn plus  that is 50% to a bull that is only  a little over 47%  the calf will be 48.65% is this still considered half when showing if it is a heifer some shows only recognize half bloods

Are you in Canada or US? I don't know how Canada works, but in the US I'm almost positive the bull would be listed in the database as 50%, so the calf would register as 50%. Can you send his registration # so I can look it up for you?

I would contact the assn for clarification and actual percentage but, the calf should be considered 50% in the regestry.  My understanding with shows is that nationally sanctioned shows calf must beb50% or greater. Smaller county fairs and most jackpots, go by if you have a pare then you show.  Again you have to ask and check all show rules prior to each event.  Good luck!
