Here's how I used it:

Step 1 Rinse calf throughly until they are clean and cool

Step 2 Blow completely dry and allow fans to fluff hair

Step 3 Shake Show Coat (It will seperate) and spray on entire animal.  Concentrate it on areas that are harder to get good hair like legs and flank.

Step 4 Comb it in and turn on fans. (Here comes my favorite part)

Step 5 Let stand for 2 songs on the radio or drink one beer or do both at the same time while waiting for product to take hold of hair.  This step is critical.  Maybe drink 2 beers if you are fast at this step.  You can get thirsty during steps 1-4.

Step 6 Fluff with blower.  Do not blow the product out of the hair.  Fluff it in.  Hair is not oily and will dry completely to the touch.

I did this once per day. Entire process takes about an hour.  Do not rinse again until next day. You do not want to wash out the product. Hope this helps.  You will see noticable results within the first three weeks.

Don't forget step 5. Very important <beer>

We have a hard time keeping ShowCoat in stock.  We ship about 300 gals. a week.  TONS of reorders.  The only way you are going to know if it does work for you is to try it.  You also need to be consistent in how you use it like DRapp was.

I bought showcoat while I was in Denver this year and stared using it this summer and it works amazing! But like some people were saying it has lots of oils so unless you have a cool barn or a couple fans it may not be such a good idea.

It seems like a really hot product. I wonder why a company like Sullivan's hasn't been all over it. I could see the maker's (Wilson's) selling to Sullivan's for big bucks. Must just be too new?  Would love to try it though.

Not sure if they have raised the price on Show Coat but back in the Spring a gallon cost $100.

The stuff flat out works. I was skeptical about the claims until I tried it and I can tell you after using it all summer I will never use any other hair product again. Heat and humidity do not matter when applying this product because it is designed to allow the hide and hair to breath. Products like sheen contain silicone which seals the hair preventing growth. Products like revive create a barrier on the hide and hair that prevent it from breathing or absorbing anything else. Yes it is expensive but the oils used to make it are expensive and you get what you pay for. They have also came out with a moisturizer product and a new shampoo that work great also. Most hair products out there contain chemicals that damage hair, showcoats products are ALL NATURAL maximizing the ability to grow hair. I think more people are using this product than what you think. I think many people will be shocked when they show up to the state fairs here at the end of the summer and see how hairy some of the cattle are. This is one of those products that you won't tell your neighbor about because it is so good you dont want anyone else to know about it. Bottom line, if you aren't using showcoat you are behind the game and at a clear disadvantage.

I was reading this post and I am going to use this product for the summer. I was reading and a previose posted said not to wash the cattle out in the morning. As I do not have a cool room I only have a room with a couple turbo fans, I was still wondering if it was a good idea not to rinse them out in the morning? Seems to me it would dry out the hair if you put them under fans all day without rinsing them. It also seems well to rinse them in the morning to cool them off but like I said it is my first time using the product and i just want to make sure I will be using it right without the cool room. Thanks in advance

As long as it gets a chance to dry and sit in their hair all night you'll get along fine with your morning rinsing- but that showcoat will make it more forgiving if you don't get a chance to do it

Show Coat is available in Canada. Please contact myself for more details. We have used Show Coat for three years and I began to distribute in Canada just under a year ago. Being a hair junky after the first week we applied it I knew we would never be able to get show cattle ready without it. It just flat out makes better hair. Lots of reorders now as we get into the end of jackpot season and holding hair into summer 4H Regionals and Jr Shows.

Sullivan's tried VERY persistently to get Show Coat. Chad Folger Family developed and distributes the product and wanted to continue it that way currently. We get ours from them. At this time he wanted to keep it like it is as they are constantly making improvements to the product. Sure Coat is nowhere near compared to Show Coat in any way shape or form.  If you would like to order contact us at 641-745-0323.

So the Sure Coat deal has nothing to do with someone that USED to be involved with Show Coat?  There is no similarity in the formulas?

I have posted once before on here about ShowCoat information or opinions.  The last response asking the question about an individual that use to be with ShowCoat being behind the Sullivan knock off product and the involvement with ShowCoat.  I have known both parties involved for many many years and if you really want the truth people in the area that both parties live are the individuals to ask.  There has been a lot of info put out there that's totally false and those of us that know both parties can give you the truth.  The family that developed the product is the ShowCoat group!!!  The other party involved did gather some knowledge of the carrier oils and essential oils that was being used by ShowCoat. However the active compounds have never been shared with anyone.  I can also tell you that ShowCoat party will and can tell you exactly how to make Sure Coat and will willingly do it.  I'm still waiting for them to actually post it  online so anyone can make it.  Now I may not be a genius but if they are willing to share that with the public I wouldn't think it's as close to being the same as the others want people to  believe. Again those of us that truly know the history and profession of the parties involved know what's real and what' is  not!  Do your research yourself and stay tuned because in the near future anyone will have the ability to make their own version of Sure Coat. After all that would answer a lot of questions I think !!

So there are in fact similarities in the products, and the two parties did in fact have some type of involvement with one another.

Exact same products...no.

Got it.

So the products aren't exactly the same.  How about the results?  Should I try one over the other?  At $100/gallon I will expect results regardless of the one I try.

I am by no means an expert, but what I am finding with Sure Coat is that the hair and hide is extremely healthy.  However, I really wouldn't say that the hair growth is any different than I see any other year.  5 weeks in the cooler, and our steer is just starting to grow high quality fall/winter grade hair.  That is really no different than any other year.

I am guessing that the "secret" ingredient in Show Coat is actually what makes their product work.

Again, Sure Coat isn't a "bad product" by any means, and we are darn sure using it.  I just don't know that it is growing any hair beyond what the steer would be growing with nothing at all.

Knowing what I know now, I guess I would go with the Show Coat to grow hair...not because I know it works but because I don't believe I am getting significant results with the other product.

Is there anywhere someone could just go purchase a bottle of show coat?  (within a reasonable distance from central Iowa)  I've heard "not so positive" results from people I know trying phone or on-line orders.
