I know solid gold is the king of the south but how does he work for hair shows. I always said a calf had to be good with no hair to be good with hair. Does he throw any hair? What does he seem to work best on? Any input would be appreciated

He does throw hair, what you don't see is them all shagged up. Heifers make great cows. Great udders and milk well.

Think they would be shaggy under fans etc treated like a calf showin in the east

Yeah I mean I have seen cows at horns place that were shaggy so I think that calves under fans being washed and cared for would be shaggy

The calves I have seen north and south have been hairy. Brian Martin always had hairy ones in the heat of summer whenever I visited....

If I'm not mistaken mr horns son showed a solid gold and put him 4th in one of the heat classes in ft worth, you don't do that without awesome hair

I have one on feed right now that has great hair.  As far as how to use him, I'd say softer made cows that need power, bone, and soundness.  But I've heard he may lack some consistency.
