As stated previously, the Junior Nebraska Cattlemen's Association has a listing of shows. They update shows regularly, but some of the big shows don't always make it on the site in a timely fashion. Case-in-point is that the Nebraska Cattlemen's Classic show in Kearney - Feb 20th, is not listed. This is one of the larger, more competitive shows. You can often go to the previous year's results to find out the shows that were sanctioned the year before.

The Amherst FFA usually host a show the following week at the fairgrounds in Kearney. That show is pretty reasonable on entry fees and there is still good competition.

Ask around at these shows and you will find numerous opportunities in the months to come.

Sneak-a-Peek preview in syacuse, ne is a very good one to go too. Competition is really good, and payout ain't bad! If nothing else you get a free prize just for entering. March 19&20th. hope this helps

It might be out of your way,  I'd figure I'd post anyways.

The weekend of July 9th & 10th there are two progress shows going on
here at the Scottsbluff County Fair Grounds in Mitchell.

On the 9th the county ag. society hosts their progress show, and they don't
do showmanship. I'm not sure what their prizes are quite yet.

The 10th is the Mitchell Valley 4-H Club progress show (aka my club's show).
There's showmanship at this show, and you get the majority of your registration
fee back.

I'll have more information later on, but just figured you might want to
know in advance :)
