If you are member of Steerplanet, you are on the committee.  First vote on the docket is adding another forum to discuss topics not related to cattle.

It would be mandatory to post anything religion or political in this new forum, but other off-topics would not be mandatory, at least in the short-term.

For instance, if I started a new topic "How cold is it?" or "Corgi Photos", I could post it in either forums.  However if I started a thread, "Where is our country headed?", than it would be appropriate for the off-topic discussion.

Eventually all off-topic discussions would migrate over, I just don't want to limit it in the beginning.

The reason behind this move would be purely for the fact of keeping too many topics from falling on the first page of the "big show" forum.  We have greatly increased our member base, the # of threads, and the replies to those threads.

I'd probably forget to check there.  Like the "help" section...I think many of us forget to check there and offer our "help".

Honestly I don't care, but there are some that get their panties up in a bunch of non cattle threads.

It really don't matter to me; I'll still just post on the things I like and skip the rest.

I voted for it, but don't really care.  I think things are great as they are now.

to me, this place is like any other open congregation of people.  no one is force to be hear and everyone has a right to strike up a conversation, than anyone else has the right to partake in if they care.

i think it would just be micro-manage.  it's simple the way it is.

I'm not sure I care either way!  I voted Yah as long as it stays to just religion/Politics!  The cattle topics do drop off the front page pretty quickly right now! I appreciate that you are seeking opinions first Jason!

leave it.  uninteresting topics fall off the front page soon enough with the added traffic.  After 1 week or so with no activity on a post, i would understand sorting them out to clear up some space.  move it then to the non cattle area for future reference.  Same could be done for the classifieds.  after it falls off front page, direct the thread to Wanted, For sale, Steers, heifers, bulls, cows, etc..  Might be more work than it is worth, but if you're looking to change i would simply change how archived items are placed.  the greatest part of this board is the constant change that takes place on it.  Stagnant sites are dead sites.  Keep up the great work.

I was for it before I was against it. Then I thought about it and was for it. But then I voted against it while I was for it. ;) ;D ;D ;)

I like the sire page idea... photos of calves would be nice.....

But as far as "off topic", nah.... leave things alone. If you don't want to read a thread, DON'T READ IT.... how simple is that?

Agree, I voted no, that is what makes this board special IMO, people are free to state opinions on whatever, it is what makes this board different.  I don't actually go to the front page, always hit show unread posts since last visit, so I guess to me it really doesn't matter how fast or slow it goes off the front page.

i like it as is...

and agree the sire page would be neat...kinda like a who's your daddy page...just start a thread for each bull and people can post calf pics under the appropriate thread...i think if everyone just starts a new thread everytime they get a new calf pic, then its going to be hard to sort thru, not very organized, more time consuming to search for bulls progeny...if there is just one thread for say heat wave...and everyone puts his offspring pics there, then it would be much simpler...

Personally, I believe Steerplanet has gone the way of other discusion forums and is past it's zenith. Surely you'all have noticed the change in posting/posters and, especially the degradation in grammar and spelling. You can make change, and change is not bad, but accept the fact that Steerplanet is not what it used to be.

Im for it...I have come from forums that were very organized with a few different sub-forums, and I like it that way. Granted, they had many more members than there are here, and they are not cattle forums.
