Just looked at the Sullivan's sale catalog... they sure have some great females!  I'm curious... I'm not a Shorthorn breeder, so I don't keep up with the sales, but generally speaking, what are the prices like?  I'm sure the show heifers are sky high, but what about the bred heifers and cows?  Does anyone know what they did last year?

I looked through the catalog. There were no actual bwt's listed. I went to the asa site and no weights listed on pedigree. I realize these cattle are worth more than my life insurance policy but does elder or the hired men weigh calves? Or they are not listed.....or it just doesn't matter? I would think it would be a 3 million dollar sale.

I wouldn't be letting my wife know I had a insurance policy worth almost 3 million (cow)

Sullivan's do have a lot of very nice heifers for sale every year. I have never been to any of their sales but in their catalog they always have a page for heifers that have previously been sold for $5,000 and under. some of the females seem to do pretty well also.

Sullivan's have done a tremendous job of promoting their product over the last several years at the shows and now they have a demand for their supply.  I do not be-grudge anyone today to make money on their product- that is capitalism.
Due to the fact that they have a huge demand and limited supply- you need to be prepared to pay for the product.

Sullivan's have such a good knack for getting the demand for their product-- we need to enlist them to get shorthorns as a whole to be the next hot commodity in feedlots to replace CAB  LOL ;)

You should buy all or any of the females bred to Waco.

Thank you for the link to last year's results.  They were high!  Understandably so, but as I said, I'm not a Shorty breeder, so I can't justify that much for one.

I'm not sure if the results were all just open heifers?  What about the breds?

Seemed like another great sale.  $100,000 top on a shorthorn plus, 70,000 top on the purebreds, and about 1.5 million total.
