I have a herd of commercial angus based cattle. I am wanting to increase the weaning weights.  I know sweet meat will make them grow, but does he work in the commercial operation  while keeping birthweights reasonable? Another bull I am interested in is Longs Shear Pleasure. Any other bulls that  I am overlooking? would like some simmi influence but not a deal breaker.

Sweet Meat works well on Angus based cows. He does add some birth weight but it's not unreasonable. A Simmental bull I'm going to use on my angus based cows is RC Club King. Upgrade would work too but his semen is pricey for a commercial situation. I'll be using a 3/4 SM Upgrade son called MCM Top Grade. I think he would work nicely on Angus based cows as well.

We have a Club King calf (January) that is out of a preferred beef x cottonwood cow and she stinks! Granted, it just one calf, but is not as good as her mom. We were real disappointed. Not as much muscle, odd shaped hip, and narrow. She'll make a good recip down the road (she has good epds and her mom milked like crazy!). We just wont use him again.
