The past couple of days were have been in Springfield, MO attending the Hereford Genetic Conference. It was modeled after the old type conferences, but there was a significant emphasis on genetics. It was one of the best conferences I have been to in awhile. Sessions on what the food consumer is wanting, where the feedlots are headed, where Herefords are headed, what are our responsibilities as seed stock producers. If you are on twitter search #geneticherefordsummit.
The one of the best pieces of advice came from Galen Fink, a prominent Angus and Charolais breeder. He said, "Don't get discouraged if you don't have much land or many cows. Think outside of the box. There is a way to do things." I thought the statement would resonate with lots of the people on this forum.
