Just wondering if anyone knows if walnut shavings are bad or toxic for bedding for our show cattle. They say its toxic for horses. We just started getting shavings from a mill and there is many different wood shavings mixed together.  So is it safe or not?????

the toxic substance is juglon, which is in all walnuts.

The toxic is mostly toxic to hoofs, and can eat away at them.

You walk around all day with walnut dust in you clothes from cutting trees down-- and you'll have quite the rash the next day.
