FMF said:Wet beet pulp, and Winning Fill. It's a great roughage to get them filled up and looking nice, plus I have never met a cow that has not loved it! It smells good and tastes good to them.

Also, if she can sometimes be a picky eater and since it is ritical she stays on feed, try VitaCharge from Vita Ferm. I use it on my heifer who is (or was) a picky eater and now she eats like a horse and is never off feed.
Hope that helps... good luck
What VitaCharge are you useing the paste or the powder that you topdress???
FMF said:I use the powder as a topdress. I had trouble getting her to eat her food with it in at first but then I started to take a handful of feed and covered it up so she wouldn't see it. I wouldn't suggest mixing it in though, just because it is a topdress and she may not get all of it if it is mixed in among the feed, because it might stick to the bottom of the feed trough or if you have wet beet pulp in the mix, it could dissolve.
No. You feed that in addition to her normal ration.CWC said:FMF said:I use the powder as a topdress. What is all u feed is beet pulp and winners fill??? how much do u feed of each??
FMF said:No we feed our show animals mixes from our local feed store. My heifers get a custom heifer mix and they are each getting about 3 scoops a day (I don't know how many pounds that is..), with the exception of my braunvieh heifer who does not need as much conditioning as my angus.
I mix a scoop of wet beet pulp in with each of their meals and then the one heifer gets the vitacharge.
Here is the website from our feed store:
http://www.farmerscoop.com/Feed_Division/FCA_Beef/FCA_Beef_Show_Feeds.htm
We feed our steers and bulls the 12% show and flake and then we have a custom heifer mix that is not listed
If you would like to know what is in our mix you can PM me but I'd have to call someone because I don't remember exactly...the bags don't come with tags since it is a custom mix.
We mostly only feed Winners Fill at shows, but sometimes about a week before a show we will start giving everyone about a scoop of it mixed in with their feed.
FMF said:Sorry, all I know is that it is a 3 qt. scoop. I don't weigh it out..
Honkomp said:This may not be right but, if you divide 30 by 5 you get 6lbs. then multiply 6 by.75 and you get 4.5 lbs. if you are feeding three scoops a day then you are feeding 13.5 lbs per day. What does your heifer weigh?
