With calving season quickly approaching, I cant help but get excited.  Especially for some very special matings I have in store.  Im sure everyone has a cow or 2 bred to a certain bull due to calve in 2012 that you have high hopes for.  Lets hear about it.

I have 3 matings in particular that I am fired up about.  Time will tell if they are worth the anticipation but here they are:

1) DRC 244 (dam of Captain Obvious) due in March to GS&J Captain Rob. Captain Rob is a Captain Obvious son out of an RS 034 daughter, back to the dam of 034

2) A&T Captain Clara 040 (full sister to Captain Obvious) due in February to Eionmor Marquis!  <rock>

3) A&T Obvious Marquis 028 (Marquis out of A&T Miss Obvious 725 who is a Byland Mission out of DRC 244, captains mom) due in February to her Maternal brother and new cattlevisions aquisition, A&T Rawhide 962, an Open Range son.

sounds like something I'd do...  That mating should work for a real good new herd sire...  atleast that'd be what I'd be hoping for.

You know Aaron... I bet there won't be many people on here talking about their top 3 most exciting matings, being out of three different cows, and involving zero flushes...  <party>

I never talk about it because I don't want to jinx it.  Just hoping for live healthy calves with no monkey mouth, spastic paresis, dummy, dead, etc.

several but like GoWy I am always nervous to expect too much.....
just a few
1- Direct Daughter TPS Coronet Leader 21st x TM Gus Due Feb
2- Jake's Proud Jazz x Gold Spike daughter bred to Jake's Unbelievabull (Prince of Jazz son of Jake Proud Jazz and Poly Cumberland Cow Maria) due May
3- Johnny Walker Red x Sonny bred to Alta Cedar First Blood due 12-28
4-Ar Su Lu Matrix daughter (gizmo granddaughter) x Unbelievabull Due April
5- Sull Assett daughter x 329 Due Feb

I am excited in general to see how Unbelievabull does on first go around. Hoping for reduced birth weights. As others have said, pray for live calves. No c-sections. I have a couple eggs due as well.

Always like to see other folks babies. Enjoy the new born photos. Look forward to calving season every year its like Christmas especially with shorthorns trying to guess what colors you will get. I don't care if we get heifers or bulls. Just live.

Good luck to everyone.

Fun topic!!!!

have an embryo baby coming; momma is the dam to Joshua Ramsey's Hidden
Treasure display bull; sire of the embryo is Heatwave.....resulting baby will surely
be blue and amazing!!!!

also have several Monopoly x pb Simmis coming....those will surely all be heifers!

on the Simmi side, have babies coming from the new Steel Force sire AJE/PB MONTECITO 63W; thinking those will be showy, blaze face baldy heifers!

the possibilities of the next calf crop are what keeps us all going, isn't it????

How do you like your Lone Ranger daughters thus far?? The Eionmor Ultra 8K daughter that I bought from Dale Studer a few years ago is due to Lone Ranger in March and there will be a few more, she is just the one that I remember since Im pretty pumped up about the possibilities of that mating.

My top natural covers
1) Diamond Julie Baroness 8J is having a Diamond Prophecy 21P.  The resulting calf is linebred to both GAFA Captain MacBest 6G and OA Diamond Julie Baroness 29Z
2) Diamond Rosebud Baroness 71R is also having a Diamond Prophecy 21P. Again this is linebreeding to the 29Z cow.  I have a full sister to this mating and she is one of our best heifers ever
3) Diamond Whittney Maid 14W is having a Glenford Captain 39X
4) Diamond Wisteria Baroness 25W (Maternal sister to Prophecy) is also having a Glenford Captain 39X calf

My most exciting calf of the year though is and ET calf out of my first cow OA Diamond Julie's Baroness 29Z by Byland Gold Spear I am really hoping for another heifer as the maternal sisters have done amazing things for my program.
