Going to make the southern Iowa to western Iowa swing this weekend. Planning on going to Hunter Bros. , Lautners to check out the Shorter Ranch calves, Otto Show steers, Weavers. .  Any place we should for sure hit in that area?  Any hidden gems out there?

For what it's worth, my son doesn't want a black steer.  He really wants a smoke or an a red and white calf.

Sounds like you will be in our area-- Southern Iowa as you are swinging through.

I would be thrilled if you would like to make a pit stop at our place and I can show you our Shorthorn and Shorthorn Plus calves.  They are still out on pasture, but you will be able to get a really good idea of what they are capable of doing as they grow.  I have several reds and roans that may peak your interest.

We are just south of Hwy 92 west of Fontanelle, IA

Please also feel free to PM me for directions or you can call me-- 641-344-6100

If you are heading through western iowa there are numerous sales to hit up around the Denison area.  These sales are in the West Central Club Calf Producers group and have proven to raise national and state champions every year.  Definitely worth your time to come check us all out!

Make sure and hit the Pro Tour sites this year on the western edge of the state. See their adds in the Show Circuit. We went through them a week ago, definatley worth the trip. Olrichs has some real nice heifers. and a few killer steers.

Be sure to call ahead in some cases in W Iowa. There were several people over labor day weekend around who were really ticked off that some of those guys aren't allowing anyone in until the 14th.

Part of the Western Central Iowa Club calf producers group decided in the off season to split from the group and have their sales end the 23rd and not allow anyoen to view the cattle until the 14th.

I'm located just south of Des Moines if your in the area. Most of my steers are black but I do have a smoke One and Only heifer and a Red and White Salty Dog steer. Also have a really good blue roan shorthorn cross steer.
