Just shampoo and rinse good before clipping and use Kleen sheen, infusium, linament, and a touch of vinegar for daily use.

    How bout those Sabres?

eh, Detroit always starts slow it seems like. Plus, they are still shifting lines to make up for the Franzen loss for a while and adding a few other major free agents into the Detroit line-up. Babcock will have them clicking before too long. The sabres do, however, look promising.

    Keepin white, white

We used Sullivan's Bright Lights shampoo and found it works really well. The stuff is purple and looks like it could stain them but it washes out great and makes whites whiter.

    REALLY nice Louisville Type Steer

He is a Heatwave born late April '08 weighing 1245 completely full.  We completely shucked him out and just started him getting worked on a little over a week ago to get ready for the later stock shows. This guy is sound as a cat and has a good hip and lots of body and was really hairy in April...

When to start holding a steer

It depends on where your taget weight is. If your target weight is 1300-1310 then dont start to hold him until 1240-1250. Then put him on a filler ration with lots of beet pulp or full n fresh or something that will fill him up without the weight. Plus when u start holding one, hair shoots out...

steer walks with a snapping ankle

Definately use Natural Stride. We had a steer pop in his pasterns and his knee would also fill with fluid and swell because he was a little too straight out of his rear legs. We were recommended to use Natural Stride and the steer is about 2 weeks from going to the state fair and looks great...

    Pics of my boys

Beet Pulp and free choice hay are used for rib shape. He does look pretty nice, a little bit chuffy on his neck but a pretty nice animal. Also, if the Mr Clean steer would have been mine, I would have rolling pinned him and put a neck sweat on his neck. You simply use a regular rolling pin and...

    BLACK VS. RED!!!!

I just wanted to see what everyone thought of this county fair steer. He just won Reserve at our county fair and we grabbed a quick pick by the cattle barn. The steer that beat him was black 1300, a good not great calf, but not near the mass or structural correctness this guy has-- he should...

    HELP!! Shotgun Bellied

I have a really nice steer that is a little shotgun bellied or tight gutted. He weighs 1305 and we have 30 days til our show. Any suggestions on how to drop their bellies in 30 days? He is currently eating 3 lbs. of steam rolled oats, 3 lbs. of regular grain, and 4-5 lbs. of beet pulp twice...

Heavy steer any suggestions on how to hold him? PLEASE

Feed him 3 scoops of Oat Grotes, 1/2 cup of Non-medicated Milk Replacer, 1 scoop of normal grain, and 2 scoops of beet pulp twice daily. I am considering 1 scoop to be about equal to a pound. If he won't eat this ration wet than feed it to him dry. The oat grotes and milk replacer are the key...

    Loss of appetite

I had the same things happen to me on Show Chow but it was two years ago and back in January on about a 1,000lbs. calf. We switched our feed to Vita-Plus. The change of feed ignited his appetite and we never looked back and still feed vita-plus. I would look at a change of feed or at least a...

    "HOLDING SHOW CALVES"

We have had a lot of experience in this area of show cattle and we found something that works really well for us. This ration is one that not a lot of people have probably heard of or even thought about but it works. It will keep the animal fresh and hairy and will not let them gain a pound...

Very nice post. I actually had our first exposure to rain rot this year. Can be some nasty stuff to get rid of for sure.
