I haven't tested all dams for Myostatin yet, but given ~3 generations of bulls in pedigree are free of all defects, very high likelihood that they are all clean too. I have to go through the pedigrees of all my dams and figure out which still need to be tested. All dams are TH free...

I like to use the Year letter code (so 1Z etc, her tatoo will be MIDA 1Z) - Sire ABV above and Dam/cow family below on management tag. Glad this thread was started, I like the idea of incorporating dam's numbers... not sure how I would do that now. Guess it depends on whether cow family info...

The right type of shorthorns will work well - and do for me. Moderate easy doing type - I'd stay away from the maine influenced show cattle (which kind of makes the club calf side operation completely antagonistic to their goals in my opinion).
