    aborting cow with lutalyse

Shouldn't mess her up but depending on how wrong the bull was I would wait 21 days and see if she is bred.....in my opinion the "wrong" calf would be better than no calf.

    Show Ring Bling????

Actually in a 4H horse show the dress code is very strict, plain white long sleeve shirt with no design, 4H arm band, dark jeans with no designs on the pocket.  I think the difference in the horse show world is that things are still very segmented, you will certainly see the bling in the breed...

    Weaver Livestock Products

Haven't used any of the Weaver products yet but someone needs let Weaver know that cattle have hair and not fur, the description for their halter reads: "All features of this halter from the rolled nose, rounded cheek pieces, black leather, and black hardware blend in to the animal's fur so...

    Final Bloom or Clipper Oil

Just spent some time cleaning up several sets of clippers yesterday to get ready for the year.  We usually use Sullivan's Final Bloom to oil the blades on our clippers, we always have it and it seems to work.  I know there are some spray oils that are made for clippers and wonder if this is any...

    partnership on cows

My suggestion would be that if you do enter a partnership make sure it's with a livestock person.  The biggest fallouts that I have seen in these types of partnerships is that non livestock people don't always understand that if something breaths than it can die or break a leg or flush zero...

    Show bulls????

Do you plan on keeping him or selling him?  A lot of people will only buy virgin bull so if you do plan on selling him that may be a consideration, if not I wouldn't think he would loose much condition running with a few cows.  If you were concerned you could heat check and pen breed.

    Custom embroidered caps

I agree with jacka...twisted stitch or showstring.  One thing I would suggest is not going to cheap...I have lots of cheap caps sitting in the back of my closet right behind the nice caps that I wear.

    Getting into showing...

Is there anyone in your county that is also ready to step it up? If so maybe you could travel togeather to some shows, it would save on expenses and also would make it a little less intimidating if you had someone with you.

    Generators

We have Honda generators and they work really well for us.  They cost a little more but watch Craigslist and eBay and you will find that they hoid their value very well.  We use our generators to run an LQ on a horse trailer so the fact that they are very quiet is a plus.  If I were just going...

Please watch this!! I am VERY concerned how this was portrayed!

I understand the importance of educating consumers, I make my living from production agriculture.  I don't think it's pointless to try and educate Vegans but instead of worrying about "meatless monday" we need to concentrate on the 6 days that aren't meatless and make sure the consumer had a...

Please watch this!! I am VERY concerned how this was portrayed!

That's been floating around for a few years...not sure if it is true or not but the comment is: To all you hunters who kill animals for food, shame on you; you ought to go to the store and buy the meat that was made there, where no animals were harmed.

Please watch this!! I am VERY concerned how this was portrayed!

I don't think anyone said that they weren't concerned about animal activists, the orginal post was in regards to concern about people seeing the video and I think everyone was in agreement that the video was positive and not negative. Mike

Please watch this!! I am VERY concerned how this was portrayed!

I think that they did a great job of explaining things...What would you like to have seen better explained?  I thought they showed the process as well as they could in a short segment. I though the plant manager did an excellent job of answering the question, certainly better than I could.  She...

Please watch this!! I am VERY concerned how this was portrayed!

I just watched the video and I think it was very well done.  The video didn't portray anything, what the video showed was the reality of the process of feeding and harvesting cattle.  I would says good job to Cargil for allowing this to be done in such a classy way.  I thought the manager did a...
