    are online sales legit?

Excellent thoughts, I have bought and bid on a few online sales but never thought of them figuring out your budget.... good thing I haven't bid on two animals on the same sale yet!  I agree with others that you should always put a price on each individual calf and stay at or below that price.

    Bushy Park Farms catalog

I bought a bred last year and got this I-80 heifer calf.  A lot will go really high but if you are careful and do your homework I think there are some good ones at a price you can live with.

    Gvc Suh 01W

I have a couple Suh cows and I like them, they are good mothers and have done well for me.  He adds power and performance in the calves I have had out of him, be careful on birthweight I have had some 100lbers.  Some people would say the cows are too big but I am ok with it.  Mine are purebred...

    holstein x clubby

Wulf's are doing this with limousin bulls and dairy cows, might try giving them a call, pretty sure they would buy the calves if you have enough of them.

    SC

I tend to agree... continental breeds>late maturing>15 years of productive life                           british breeds>early maturing>10 years of productive life

    Zilmax and Optaflexx Photos

I'm probably going to get banned and labeled a troll for saying this but the true reason why I made this topic was because I have a "strong affinity" for muscular animals especially wild masculine ones like wolves, jaguars, hyenas, bears, and equines. Does "strong affinity" = weird fetish...

    best maternal bull poll

Good suggestions,  I would breed them to purebred maine or simmy then cross em' up with mutts.  Hard Drive, X, Wisdom, Predator or maybe a high %, clean Whiskey son would be a good place to start.  Your resulting club calves would be much more consistent in my opinion.  Good Luck!

    Breeding suggestion

Nice looking heifer.  Is she registered Limousin, whats her pedigree? Simmental wouldn't be my first choice, I don't think the breeds compliment each other very well. What are your goals for the calf?  You almost have a purebred heifer, why not breed her to a purebred bull? We used Hunt...

    PB Gelbvieh Bull

Must be really hot  (lol) I worked at a Gelbvieh ranch in high school and the ones I was around had pretty poor udders, good mothers just poor udders.  I'm not certain but I think its something they are known for and judging by his scrotal suspension I would not be too keen on keeping lots of...

we had a young herd bull semen tested

If you think some of the calves are out of him and he tested good I would attribute the fact that he didn't breed as many heifers to a couple different things.  If you run more than one bull in a pasture there will be a more dominant bull that will breed a majority just like there is a boss cow...

Young cow letting any calf suck

Maybe she will grow out of it.  The first calf heifer lot at our place is always a free for all.  The next year they all get over it and are protective of their own calf.

    One of those tough days

Sorry to hear about your friend, every man should blessed enough to know at least one good dog in his life.  My lab of 13 years passed last fall.  I always liked this poem. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mwGnCIdHQH0

    Creep Feed

Here is a picture of the grower ration we mix.

    Creep Feed

This is the dumbest argument ever, my "understanding" is just fine.  You will notice I agreed that the creep in your picture is essentially a grower ration in pellet form. Where we differ is what kind of animal to feed it to.  I would stop feeding it at weaning because of the cost associated...

    Creep Feed

http://shop.showrite.com/show-rite-cruiser/ We grind and mix our own but it is modeled after the Hubbard show rite cruiser.  Used to buy it by the bag but depending on the price of corn it is $150-200/ton cheaper to mix your own. I have 2 steers and 2 heifers on feed now and i have them limit...

    Creep Feed

Creep feed to me has always been fed to nursing calves in a "creep feeder."  I have heard the term used on this site in a lot of different ways.  I looked it up and wikipedia gave a surprisingly thorough and in my opinion correct description.  I will agree with rackranch that a 12-14% grower...

I80 vs I67 vs Jesse James

I have no experience with JJ or I-67.  I do have 3 I-80's this year and I'm impressed with the quality out of heifers, lots of bone and growing stouter by the day.  I think cows/heifers with some belly and hind leg set would work best.  BW 67-82 lbs, all the calves are PB maines.

    When to breed?

Your question is pretty vague, you would get better answers if you were more specific.  I'm going to guess you meant how old would a heifer have to be before you can breed them... You can breed as soon as they hit puberty.  The age varies between animals and breeds, usually anywhere from 10-13...
