    Best bull in Shorthorn Country

I would have to say that for new bulls,  Unique and Big John certainly caught my eye.  I think they could have something valueable to offer.  I was also impressed with the picture of Leroy and also expected him to be a little bigger framed.

    2 year old Shorthorn Bulls

Thank you to everyone that send PM's.  All three bulls are now sold.    We will have two, two year olds (all of our yearlings) for sale next year.  They are out on pasture growing with a group of yearling Limousin bulls for the summer.

    2 year old Shorthorn Bulls

I managed to get a somewhat decent picture of Xchange 805 the other day.  Located in SE SD, Guaranteed for the first year and very reasonably priced.

    2 year old Shorthorn Bulls

We still have 3 polled two year old shorthorn bulls for sale.  They have been on a high roughage diet for the last 16 months and are ready to go to work. 2 have been tested THF & PHAF, the third has not yet been tested, but should be clean, and will be guaranteed as such. If desired we will test...

Anyone use Facebook to advertise their herd?

We just started to and have already received some feedback and inquiries on our cattle.  Our page can be located at:  http://www.facebook.com/pages/Lesterville-SD/Vaith-Cattle/113279272021805?ref=mf.  Feel free to take a look.  It was pretty simple to set up and is easy to maintain.

    Shorthorn bull for lighter cows

I would have to agree with pretty much all of the above mentioned bulls, and most are in my tank.  I would also like to add one of our bulls, Ar Su Lu Brass to the list.  He hasn't been used anywhere other than our herd but we did just get semen collected.  He is a Gizmo son out of a Vann X...

    Shorthorn Bull Test Results

The Backfat is measured in MM  if you wanted to convert it to inches divide by 25.4.  The first bull on the sheet has 14 mm fat,  14/25.4.  He had just over 1/2 inch of backfat (.55")  Most are in the .25" - .35" range for backfat.  It looks like all but one were 4% IMF (low Choice) or better...

    Web Page info

I just wanted to update everyone.  I have finished my webpage and the cost was WAY less than what I had thought.  With tax it will cost me a whopping $15.70 per year.  There are some limitations with the software, but for the price it's hard to beat.  I'd love to hear any comments you might have...

    The Last Straw

DL, Thanks for the clarification and correcting me.  I would have to say given the free status there is a pretty good chance it will come off of the will not use list.

    The Last Straw

2 straws of Twin Creek Etulason.  They were included in a package deal and I just don't really have a place for them.  Someone can correct me if I am wrong, but I have been told he is a PHA carrier.  I also have some other TH/PHA carriers in the tank that I won't use just because they are carriers.

    Web Page info

I just wanted to check with everyone on web pages.  I am working on getting one started and came across Microsoft Office Live.  It allows you to develop your own web page and post it up on the internet.  If you use the long address assigned to you page it's free, but for like $12.95 (?) a month...

    Shorthorn bull "Dover"

We bought a full brother to Open Range last year and we are just starting to get the first calves out of him now.  The first was a 70lb hfr calf out of a 3/4 blood shorthorn.  They are pretty functional cattle that are built to go out and work for you.
