    Show steer issues

I know we had this happen with us one time when we finally found out that he was getting the runs because he would attack his mineral block and eat it more and get diarrhea from that when we were feeding him later than we normally would. If you are feeding him on a strict time frame twice a day...

    Everyone's doing it

Well, thanks everyone for the complements... He is a doctor who out of a Chill Factor mamma born in mid-march.  He does toe out just a tick in his front but our hoof trimmer should be able to fix that with a couple trims. I would agree with his front shoulder needing to be tighter, but it is...

Which one is best? A weeks chores at stake

Yea we usually make it up to the winter show in december. They cut the prize money back a lot which stinks but they also increased the weight limit to 900 lbs. so who knows what is gonna show up now. xkrushx

Which one is best? A weeks chores at stake

Black and white. He may not do good early but will be a ton better than the other come next summer. Let me know if you need a back-up steer, from michigan as well...

    Using neck sweats

We used the liquid hot sweat. We applied the hot sweat after every rinse and made sure to rinse twice a day. That stuff is pretty potent and if left on, it could burn their hair and even skin. We kept the hot sweat on them continuously with just a neoprene neck sweat for about a month and saw...

    What do you think?

I agree with everything AAOK said 100% except for his poll will be just fine, and it will make him more youthful appearing next summer. Also, take his hocks down a little tighter and it will make them look less pointed, especially when he is on the move. Definately feed the beet pulp to this guy...

    revive

Revive is way too heavy to use every day... Just buy Kleen Sheen by the gallon and if you need to mix it with vinegar, suave conditioner, fungus fighter, or whatever else you feel is needed, do it. This way will help the hair breath more and grow more effectively. Revive can be deadly on an...

    honest opinion

To be honest, he may be a good fat market animal but he is not a show steer. Too big of front, smaller footed, and kind of has a big head to him. He isnt a showy, attention grabbing steer. Hope this helps, and you did say to be honest. Krush

    horns

We had our show animals cosmo'd this year and they look fresher and youthful appearing longer. It definately pretties them up and takes away some of the cowy or bully look they can get when they get older. Definately a good investment and you can e-mail or message me one here if you can not find...

HELP! - Can you "burn out" a show steer by feeding them all they want?

I agree with the above post and have fed 2% of their body weight to our show animals for a number of years with great results. Find a feed that is not too hot and watch 'em grow, no need to force them to grow unless they are slipping behind or you need them to hit a weight for a show. Also, we...

What do you use to clip a neck?

They have a neck blade now that fits on andis called the 5/8ths blade. It works pretty amazing. We clipped out a lot of neck this past year with 0 knicks in them where we have put small knicks in them from using x-blocks or whatever other clippers we used on their necks before... It leaves the...

    product review

We use Grow N Shine on all our showcalves, heifers or not, from the first of june through the end of august and have never had trouble at all. Could be our luck but the calves have great hair that you can really notice about mid-july. Never had any breeding issues either...

NEW GAME, GUESS THE HIGH SELLER!

4c- probably won't be high-seller but may make top 3. 11b- is gonna make be a momma, probably not top seller but again close to the top 10d- whoa, get her full and watch the purple start flowing. Granted her pick isnt as flashy as say, 4c's but definately will make a great show prospect and...
