Steer has constant scours, what to do?

Currently treating him with Corid and he is doing great! His scours cleared up after a day of treatment (powder you put in water). Now we are just going to continue through the five day treatment then drench him with electrolytes. (also do the 21 day preventative soon)

Why do people need a cooler room?

Ok, let me clarify. I don't "hate" cooler rooms. Just wondering why a lot of people use them, like what they help, how they help, etc. And since my steer was growing hair so great just made me start thinking about it.

Why do people need a cooler room?

It's very shiny and thick, and it "pops". And no need to get rude, was just wondering why people need cooler rooms.

Why do people need a cooler room?

No, I don't think 1 inch in one day is possible. 1 inch in several days ( 3-5 days). And what else do they help with?

Why do people need a cooler room?

Do you really need a cooler room to grow hair? It just seems like a lot of space and money. Can't you just rinse and brush? My steer is getting wonderful hair ( 1 inch of growth in a couple days) and all I do is rinse him twice a day. And it's in 100 degree weather! The thing is I don't even care...

    please help!

I have had a lot of success with one called CALMEX-V, it's made by Med-Vet. It is for horses but works and doesn't upset the calf's stomach.

    horse wormer "police"?

At our local feed store and TSC the wormers (all of them including horse) are locked up although all you have to do is ask a clerk to unlock the cabinet. They just give it to you they don't have to take it up to the cash register with them.

    Feed

We found that a great mix is 1/4 barley, 1/4 soybean meal, 1/4 cracked corn, and 1//4 sweet feed (as a filler). We have a local place that mixes it to your specifications and they mix it for us. With the feed mix you only have to feed 1.5%-2% of body weight. As far as muscle development...

    Purina Show Chow

Ok, cause that is what I am feeding and my steer had scours. (didn't think it was the feed because he had it before I started him on it) And some fellow steer raisers were saying maybe it's the feed. Although we are in the middle of treating him with Corid (been treating for 2 days and his...

    Wanted: Hay Feeder

Looking for a hay feeder (like the ones you can get at McCoy's but without the grain part) Would love for it to be all metal. If someone makes them would be willing to do that. Would love if it is in the Tomball/Cypress/Waller/Houston area, but willing to get one from farther away as long as...

Steer has constant scours, what to do?

We do not know how old he is or where he came from. It is a school district show (FFA) and all the steers were purchased through the livestock show asscociation. He is bright and alert, and I would say he poops at about a normal rate, but he is still gaining 2-2.5 lbs a day. Right now we are...

Steer has constant scours, what to do?

My dad ordered the liquid Corid for drenching, but can we pour it on his feed? I don't mind drenching him but my dad doesn't want to. I don't think pouring it on his feed will work cause he will probably just go off feed.
