    Thoughts on our new heifer

This is our new heifer, our first real show heifer. She is a January (twin) PB Simmi. She will only be shown at our county fair and some local county open shows. Sorry that the photos aren't better, I was by myself and had no one to pose her. Please tell us your thoughts...good and bad.  ;)

    How to make feed "hot"

She was on Umbargers Breeder/Grower which has protein of 12% and fat of 3%. I feed Showmaster Heifer which has protein of 13% and fat of 3%. She is a small yearling since she was a twin, but she is in great body condition. She is not at all like the yearlings I raise that usually look green and...

    How to make feed "hot"

I just purchased an '08 fall PB Simmi heifer for a close friend of mine to show in 4-H and maybe some open shows (will post pix when I get some). I usually feed Showmaster to my heifers, but I was told it is not "hot" enough. I know they are referring to the ingredients, but what exactly do they...

    3C Macho heifer...new pics

Very nice looking girl. I think she would make a nice show heifer, but an even better mamma. I like the top pic better, and I agree that you should try a sweat collar. Good luck with her!

    Umbarger feeds

I'm pretty sure it is out there because I know of people mixing it in bulk, I just don't have their contact info and thought maybe someone on here did the same thing. I have always fed Showmaster, and liked it, but this heifer will not change. They've tried everything, and Umbargers is all she...

    Umbarger feeds

Hello. I was just wondering if anyone out there has the mixing rations for any of the Umbargers feeds. I'm bringing home next year's show heifer here in a month or so, and that's what she is on. I was wanting to have it mixed at my local mill to save a few $$ but I need the rations. I'm not sure...

    Question on Simmi pedigree

She seemed to have a great disposition, and they showed her this yr as a jr heifer, so she has been out and hopefully by the time we get her she will be more mature and easier to handle. I know those jr's can sometimes be a handful.

    Question on Simmi pedigree

Thanks for the help. I didn't figure the pedigree was more than "local" animals, but I also don't know the breed. I am probably going to end up purchasing her. She will be shown at the NAILE and a show in December I think before I can actually have possesion of her, so I'm interested in seeing...

    Question on Simmi pedigree

Ok, I went and looked at a heifer that my cousin has for sale. It would be eligible for my 4-H'er to show next year at our county and state fair as a sr yearling. We don't show other than at county, and I am into Limousin's, which is why I need some help. Here is the pedigree of the 11/20/08...

Looking for show heifer for 2010-Indiana

Hello. I am looking for a 4-H heifer for next year that will be shown by a friend, but then be used in my herd. Open to any breed but Angus, partial to Limousin's (my herd is Lim or Lim x's). I have considered adding a Simm. to our herd, so very open to them. Would like to find something that...
