4 ELITE SHOW HEIFERS SELL AT CANADIAN WESTERN AGRIBITION PROSPECT SALE

Thanks everyone for your great feedback! We do try to present our cattle in the best light, but these are also honest heifers. They are raised by their mom's only with no creep until weaning time (September) and are fresh and sound. They have lots of potential as bred heifers to show, and have...

Not sure about the other posters, but I am using a Canon EOS 5D Mark II with a 70-200 MM lens. I love it!

They are all awesome pictures. You could make some great looking ads with these! We all sometimes take for granted what we get to look at everyday. What lucky people we are!

    Shorty Bulls

Welcome to Steerplanet (officially). I like them both, but the red bull in particular is a tank. VERY nice!

Why continue to breed TH and PHA carriers?

In regards to the ethics of breeding cattle with genetic defects, just how far should we go to eliminate them from the gene pool? While we could all cease breeding TH carriers tomorrow if we wanted, what about the next genetic defect that is not yet identified? What if it was identified in your...

    Club Calf X Herf??

As OH Breeder said, we breed our Hereford x Shorthorn cross cows to clubby bulls to produce club calves. We have only tried a few bulls on straight Hereford cows, and it really seems to depend on what kind of Hereford you are starting with. We have some larger framed, very structurally correct...

Who' s your favorite new 2011 Lautner bull?

The three 'F's...Feeding, Fitting... FOTOSHOP  ;) I would say the biggest difference between the pictures of bull's even five years ago and now (any promo bull, not specifically HW or Lautners) is the amount of after-photo touch-up work. Its got to the point to where, if many people promoted...

    Spring pictures

At least things are melting...although probably not the case today. I am beginning to think spring is never coming to Western Canada! Picturing bulls looked like this when they got off the beaten path.... What a winter we have had! PS, love that little black calf. He looks neat!

    2011 Babies!!

Here are a couple updated pictures of some of these calves, as well as some new arrivals. The first two are the Eyes on the Money 41Y heifer that starts this thread, the next is the 39Y brockle Eyes on the Money heifer pictured earlier. A couple of our later arriving calves, the black & white...

    2011 Babies!!

I have been really late in my replying - sorry! We will take a string of some of these calves to the Agribition Prospect show & sale and market them there. However, most of these calves will be sold private treaty. I think we have too many good ones to take out this year, so there will be a...

    ft worth steer show

You have provoked some interesting conversation, that is for sure. What DO you find legit about the above reasons in selecting terminal cattle? I can see clean fronted (better cutability?), but deepier bodied cattle are sometimes wasty, and a level hipped steer doesn't make for a higher yielding...

    Jigsaw Progeny

We used Jigsaw and had about 10 calves off him last year. They were consistent peas-in-a-pod with a very maternal look. Good bone, lots of thickness, and not puddy. We sold every one we had, with the exception of a set of twins, as show calves, including the heifer that was Reserve Champion...

    2011 Babies!!

I AM enjoying the camera! It probably wouldn't take much to bribe me to come to Saskatchewan...if its not winter! One pilgrimage a year in the winter months is enough for me! To everyone who posted, hank you for all the kind words! We still have a few more cows that I am anxious to get calves...

    2011 Babies!!

And one more! This guy is an Eyes on the Money steer also. I've attached a photo of his three week old legs... mostly because I'm pretty excited about his hair! All the other calves are about two weeks old, so I'm looking forward to seeing how they progress.
