fall and spring calving club calf cows

fall and spring calving club calf cows After considerable thought I have decided to sell my club calf producing cows.  We have culled hard the last 2 years and all I have left are good young cows just coming into the prime of their production years.  I can get pictures and I will post them on...

    Colarado rafting.

I have been rafting in Buena Vista several times.  When the water level is up its one of the funnest things you will ever get to do.

    Virgin heifers

We raise club calves but also have a small herd of Lowlines.  I put the lowline embryos in my replacement heifers for my club calf herd.  Works great, good conception rates and  we get a realitively high dollar calf out of a heifer that would normaly just be raising a sale barn calf.  I wouldn't...

    OYE cattle barns

From what I can tell maps3 is paying to build new barns to replace barns 4 and 5. The timing of all the construction is misfortunate for OYE 2012 but we should have all new facilities for 2013.  This year is going to be crowded and congested but hopefully we wont have too much trouble. I too...

    OYE cattle barns

Its going to be interesting how everything works out. From what I can tell the big outside wash racks on the west side of the barns are gone too. I didn't see it but my wife told me she read where cattle wouldn't be allowed in the barns until 8 each morning. I sure hope thats not true.

If your taking cattle to OYE

If  you are taking cattle to OYE next weekend you might want to check the OYE website for the construction updates.  Barns 4 and 5 are gone, torn down for construction of new barns, and several of the main gates are closed.  Sounds like its gonna be quite a bit out of the ordinary this year!

Proud dad (pictures) One year later

I know exactly what you mean.  The boy on the cowboy hat holding the orange heifer while little sis shows off her buckle is our 20 year old.  He's great help at the shows if you don't mind being reminded every 20 minutes that he never had calves as good as baby sister.  LOL

    Reusing CIDRs Question

A good way to be able to tell your once used CIDR's from your new ones is to tie a knot in the tail of the used ones.  Works better if you wash them first. (lol)
