    Hay....You got any!!

Hay is very high here in Indiana. Good quality small hay is selling on a regular basis for $325-$400 ton. Sometimes more! Large hay has been averaging around $250 a ton. We figure we're spending $4 per head per day. That's over two times more than we have ever spent.

Opinions on my Monopoly x Dr. Who heifer

I'd look at the Angus bull Rodman. He is proven calving ease. He keeps them stout, has a great style and super fronted. I-80 would be my choice if I hadn't seen 100# calves out of him. I would go proven calving ease first time around. http://www.cattlevisions.com/Angus/JsarMrHotRod.php

    Shootings!!! N/C

2 Chronicles 7:14 if my people, who are called by my name, will humble themselves and pray and seek my face and turn from their wicked ways, then I will hear from heaven, and I will forgive their sin and will heal their land. This country is on a dark path.

Price to have cows fed and calved for you?

$200 a ton hay figuring 30#s a day per head on the low side is $3 a day just for hay. That's average hay price around here. Going rate here is around $5 a day. Includes hay, mineral, and calving out.

    Skin Conditioning

One egg a day is great. All you need is cheap suave hair conditioner. Brush on once a day. We use Sullivans Revive and Sudden impact. Also use Weavers swine conditioner and Pro pink at the shows. Condition first then pro pink right before you show.

    Show feed

We use Showtec mintrate in a grind and mix feed. I have tried them all and it has been the most consistent mintrate on the market. We also feed some of the pelleted Showtec feeds. There are so many non-fixed formula feeds on the market today. Showtec is the only one I have found that is fixed...

    One&Only heifer

I like you heifer. Looks really good fronted. Love her tall, square, stout hip. We had a One & Only heifer last year. She was good when we picked her up but continued to get better and better. She is super fronted, stout made. Should be a steer making machine. Good luck with her!

Pretty sure Jack Ward is doing the heifer show. Not sure on the sale.

    Sullivan vs. Weaver fitting products

We solely use Weaver now. Like all the aerosols better. Seems like the paints just spray better and cover faster.

    Opinions

I've noticed more and more of this. I think like the post above there are so many different variables to this. You never know how the calf is going to be fed. Heifers are often fed to hard. I would be a little upset finding out the calf had been bred at a young age and aborted. Best thing to do...

    Draxxin, Micotil, Nuflor

Draxxin is usually around $4 per mL, Nuflor $0.65 per mL but you use a lot less Draxxin if you're concerned about large dose amounts. Dosage is 1.1 mL/100 lbs. body weight for Draxxin and Nuflor is 6 mL per 100 lbs body weight. I have had no experience with Micotil. We use Draxxin on all new...

Anyone mix their own show pig ration?

Have for about 5 years. We use the Showtec mintrate in it. They do list several different rations on the bag at different protein %'s. I would put it up against any bagged pelleted feed on the market! . If you need the rest of the ingredients and weights PM me.

true skeletal width. I hear this more in the hog deal but have heard Dan Hoge use it several times at cattle shows.
