The fact that Thomas paid $40k for the bull tells me he is pretty good.  Their is a video of him on Bovine Elite and he looks to have more leg than I thought he had at a year old.  He was stout and deep and square when I saw him.  Not the front end of firewater but not a bad front end either.

We had calves out of him spring '14.  He is calving ease but not a true heifer bull.  We had birth weights from 75-95. We have some nice heifer calves that we kept for replacements.  The calves were made nice but not real powerful.

All State is probably better suited for second calvers and older.  You might get away with using him on heifers if the heifers themselves were light bw but from what I have seen and heard he is not a true heifer bull.  I would reccomend using him the 2nd year though, as he seems to be producing...

I would look into Chunkey Monkey.  He will downsize, make em thick and the hair should be good.  You would have to talk to one of his owners and see how the daughters are milking.  The Fastrack bull was brought up in an earlier post and that is Chunkey Monkey's Maternal Grand Sire.
