Need a heifer hauled from NE to OH.

Ok, so Tommy was able to get the heifer from Colorado to a friend in Nebraska.  Any chance anyone knows of a trailer headed to Ohio from Eastern Nebraska?  I have a cow there as well that needs to come with her.

Best High Tensile Fence Charger? And Go!

Hey Guys and Girls. I just had 100 acres fenced in with 6 strands (3 hot) high tensile wire.  I'm looking for the best option for a fence charger.  I would like to use Solar but if plug in is the way to go I'll run electric.  I'm simply wanting something that will work well and last ! Thanks!

    Ohio Embryo Work?

My name is Dr. Josh Ervin.  I am located in SE Ohio (Pomeroy) and I will travel.  I do flushing, grading, freezing, implanting, etc.  All of my recips have been leased for the upcoming year so I am currently unable to offer that to new clients.  I can also house donors etc.  If you'd like to...

    embryo transfer

There is no indication that the recip is going to influence the embryo.  However, with that said there will be maternal traits that influence the calf such as; passing on antibodies, milking capability influencing growth, docile versus crazy, etc.  I know a lot of guys who have me put eggs in...

    Types of Bedding

I just started using crushed corn cobs.  I don't know how popular they are but they last a LONG time and are easy to clean.  They are cheap too.  I get them at Rural King.....less that $4 per bag, oh and they are eligible for tax exempt too!

Steer has Excessive Gas and the Runs

I would recommend having your local veterinarian come out and take a look.  The grunting when passing gas is going to be indicative of a possible bigger issue.  I would add in Probios as mentioned earlier.  You can get the powder form and top dress his feed or use the paste if he's not eating...

    Pour-On Dewormer's burning backs

I don't mean to interject here but there are many things in this thread that are reasons for the reduction in efficacy of our worming products.  When you alter from the instructional use you run the risk of parasite resistance.  I would strongly recommend not washing off the topical dewormers. ...

    Cow slipped on ice...advice!

Is she carrying a calf?  If not I would give her dexamethasone.  If she is bred I would give her banamine.

Embryo Transfer Services offered in SE Ohio

Terry Thank you very much for the insight.  I actually agree with you 100%.  I guess what I really wanted to do was to just let the members of this forum know there is a new option here in our area.  I am certainly focusing on the 'word of mouth' part of this venture as I know I need to do a...

    Eating problems

I agree with this.  If he's not bloating and/or sick he's likely just not hungry.  I agree with the above statement that timing is poor in regards to wanting finish him out but you're simply not going to make him eat if he isn't hungry.  Good luck!

    Weak legs and not nursing

Did you find the calf in that type of configuration? (hind legs forward?)  Often times that can indicate a spinal injury.  Is the calf moving it's hind legs at all?  Are they immobile?  If there is no coordination I would suspect spinal involvement.  Then there is also the issue of the swollen...

Bored at Christmas time? How about Embryo Transfer?

Mollymoo, leasing is looking like it's going to be approximately $1500 from pregnancy to weaning, all depending on interest.  There seems to be a huge interest in leasing so right now I'm working on being sure I can meet that demand.  I don't want to promise recips I don't have.  Knabe, I am...
