Weighed in today @ 870lbs. Our show is in 109 days. I need as much weight as possible in that time frame. This was a replacement so a little light. Eating 22lbs daily, with supplements. He's a social eater. Just wont put the feed down in 30-40 mins. wants to peace meal it. There are no tests at show time.  Any and all  suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

What was his last weight? Try and figure out his ADG and will tell you where he's gonna end up at.  Also consider implanting him. We've had calves put on 5-6 lbs a day after inmplanting.

Just rough figuring you're pretty close to 3 lbs a day which would end up right around 1200. Can you post a pic? would help to see his frame size.I use Revalor H which contains the same hormones as Revalor G does just a higher dose. I think H has 7 pellets per dose and G has 3 or 4. You could use G and give 2 doses to him.

He's not gonna be a big steer by the pics  I would implant him and weigh again in 3 weeks and see how he's doing.  Good luck.

Be careful doubling up doses of implants. The hormones can make their bodies do funny things. With 109 days left, I'd give him one dose of revalor g and increase his feed intake to 3% of his body weight, or as much as he will eat. Limit his hay intake so that he will eat more feed, but make sure he still eats a little hay. Realistically, looking at your calf, I think you can get him to 1200, 1250 on the extreme top end. I would consider giving him optaflexx the last thirty days on feed. He could be reimplanted when you start the optaflexx, as the first implant will be wearing off. Be mindful of the withdrawal period on the optaflexx. Good luck.

optaflexx works best when the calf has finish and is covered. You can get lean effect using optaflexx to soon. it will harden them up. We had one get slight more aggressive in personality.

This is JMO, all of the different supplements that everyone thinks that they have to add for this or add for that, interferes with the calf's nutritional balance therefore messes with the calves appetite and it's ability to gain. If you are going to use additives you need to be super smart about it and not use the shotgun approach to what the calf "needs".

You need to gain 3# per day to get to 1200#.Your steer appears to be small framed and already has a nice top and appears to have good thickness.Implants help but just good quality feed and good environment will help as smaller cattle usually don't gain as fast as longer bodied cattle with a little more frame.

Well I implanted him today with Revalor G. The pictures I put on here look a little weird..they were screenshots.  See if i can put a different one on. Cant seem to post the
real pictures on here without them coming up sideways...The supplements he is getting is Sure Champ, Show Bloom and Barley. How long do implants typically take to have effect.  Thanks for the info..appreciate it.

We usually see an increase in gain within a week. Be sure to watch his feed consumption and increase it if he cleans everything up. I like to see just a handful of feed left over.  If he is still a slow eater but cleans it up don't worry. Sometimes if you pull the feed out after 30 mins or so and then put it back in several hours later they will be more aggressive eating.  Good luck

Looks like a nice light or medium weight calf.  Don't push him too hard and have him go off feed - then you've taken several steps back!  I would give him Stabilized Rice Bran in place of the Show Bloom.  Just my opinion.  The SRB will put the finish on him quick.  Post pics as you get closer and good luck!
