Hi all. I was just wondering what you guys think semen from Ankonian Dynamo is worth. Any thoughts?

Found it for sale for 500 a straw. Pretty heavy Emulous breeding.

High $W(which is good), low scrotal, -21 for $F. Id say the only reason it is 500 a dose is because its about gone. He was the cats meow in the day. #1 sire for registrations in mid 70's. Won Denver twice. Red gene carrier.

Hey Brock. Thanks for that. I have 5 straws of Dynamo so I was wondering what they retail at. Yeah things are good over here. I got two Shorthorn calves this week. A heifer and a bull by Alta Cedar Samurai 46T. Heifer is out of an Elsies Jade X Mr Gus 80C first calver, and the bull calf arrived tonight. He's out of  a daughter of the Australian Malton Zenith. She's second calver. Even though I brought in the semen these are my first Samurai calves. He's very easy calving and the calves look good from the get go. The bull has super bone and hair already! Any calves with you yet? Any you are hopefully looking forward to?

No calves here yet. Next month should have a few. Im looking forward to all my calves. None more then the next. They all have my curiosity! Im I just wish I had the herd numbers I had 5 years ago! Damn divorce court anyway. <beer>  I still have 9 straws of Alta Cedar Signature "Tank" in the deep freeze. Always liked that Lillian cow, at least the picture anyway.

Just think irish, if you imported some bulls I recommend, I can then call myself a consultant  <cowboy>. I was thinking about getting into to that gig anyways. You can be my first client or partner. Whatever you like. Just think of the increase of cows/calves per acre you could breed up to with my 4 and 5 frame bulls! You could revolutionize the european market! But one needs to like what they look at in order to enjoy ones labors. <beer>

Dynamo was qute a bull in his time.  Most of you kids who think you know what a good moving animal is would drop over if you could have ever seen him move!!!  As a coming three year old they ran him around a plowed quater section of ground everyday,,they had to change leaders every half mile.  He was a straight and correct as you could make one.  One of the big draw backs was his calves disposition,,they had an attitiude.  But on the possitive side of it,,there was never a coyote or wolf who got a calf out of a Dynamo daughter!!!  When I lived out west on a reservation we had a lot of problem with theft of new borns,,,we never lost any calves from cows that had Dynamo in them.  Granted it was interesting trying to tag calves.  But as far as great mothers he was one of the best, they milked and were good doing cattle.  The red was a none issue for me,,and I love cows who have some snot in them when they calve.  The only thing I have always wondered about is if you ever see a picture of him from Chicago or Denver as a mature bull he was pretty wavey haired and his calves are all good straight haired...and I alos knew who the herdsmen where at Ankeney at that time.  Only those of you out there who were born before 1970 will undrestand this!!!
ALL in all Dynamo was not only a great show bull but was an outstanding breeding bull who can still be traced to many of the current popular angus cattle.  And $500 a straw is not that bad,,,remember at the same time Dynamo was popular so was a bull called Great Nothern  and in the early 70's he was $250 for two straws.

GKE, thats a great post. I was born in 1975 so Im clueless but none the less, that was good stuff. With all the coyotes around me I should get some semen.

Trevorgrey:  Thank you,  I  can say yes I saw the bull.  And had some experience with the daughters and grandaughters.  They were some pencil necked slim headed bitches, that could reach around any corner and get you,,,but that is the kind of cow I like!!!!  Looking back, wish my DAd would have liked Dynamo as much as me and used him insted of an other bull.  He got all caught up in the Weaver hipe and we used a bull called "Sport".  pretty much ruined 70 years of breediing.  At least I was onrry enough to keep a few of the Dynamo  breed females for myself.

I had a JLB Exacto cow that would eat you once. She always had no problems protecting her calf I think I agree with you in the fact that a little spunk with the calf is a good thing. Picking me up and launching me about 15 feet is a little to much for me!

Not much of a show guy, I have noticed some animals are more curly then others. Is it legal?  Whats been your favorite angus bull over the years GKE?
