I'm not from Montana, but have did elk hunt the Missouri Breaks a few years ago with bow.
I have a cousin that lives out there as well that goes every year in the breaks.
I don't believe you can hunt that with a regular big game. You have to draw for the area, and I think most of the elk move out of the area by the time gun season rolls around.
I had a great time hunting that area with bow though.
I am sure we have someone in our family hunt with just the regular big game license in Montana.
