Tuff one for me negatives about both bulls that I can't live with in my own herd, but I think when mated properly, TRUMP has come up with some of the very best the breed has to offer. I guess I like the more maternal cattle that I can go back and breed to some of the show ring stuff once in a while if I think I need to go that way. And I think you could do that with Trump without getting too far away from the breed positives of maternal traits.  Vision just seems to be more of a Terminal than Trump, not as many places to go with him, steers or market heifers, oncein a while a good cow.

Well said Jacob I must agree. My family actually bid on Trump when he sold as a calf. I believe he sold at Cates first sale for $7000. Cheap if we look back now!

Interesting Jeff,  Just think, if you'd a listened to the auctioneer, and bid just ONCE more, just think what you coulda done...  Just think of what that extra 100, or even 1000 bid could have done for you!

I think it's Trump all the way- in terms of a shorthorn bull who is in darn neared every pedigree, many times- there isn't another.  Sure, he wasn't used out of breed like Vision or Stuff, but in the way of influencing purebred Shorties... has to be Trump.  Trump was so influential IMO- that's why today everyone is searching for the next great one who isn't a Trump!

I think that debating these 2 bulls says alot about the Shorthhorn breed and where it is at the present time.

really though shouldn't we be comparing trump vs. solution and stuff vs. vision. jmo but that would be more or an apples to apples. as far as steers, DV has done nothing but wonders for the breed. as far as breeding stock trump is arguably one of the best shorthorn bulls there is.
