OK, it's raining, and raining, and raining..... don't know if this has been asked before or not, which breeds have the best and worst websites and why?

Well, the Maines are really slow on updating theirs. After the PHA list fiasco, I'm really disappointed in theirs. Have they ever heard of double checking?
Lacks pizazz & good pictures.
would love for the Shorthorns to get theirs back on-line. It's not too bad. The Angus have a pretty good one too. I'd love for the breeds to have pictures of their great ones. Especially the Chi's, can't find a picture of Sugar Ray anywhere.

Out of all the ones I use the Maine-Anjou site has got to be the worst.  I have not really ever been able to find information I was looking for.  The office is not long distance for me so I usually just call instead of wasting my time, love the cattle hate the website.  I do however think they have a good online registration system.

The Shorthorn website is a lot slower than the others due to pictures and things, some parts of it are really good and other parts of it are really bad.  I hate calling that office, the most unhelpful, snotty people in the purebred business!

I love the Angus website, I have only had to make 1 call to that office, everything you need is on there.  They live broadcast most of the bigger shows on there, they put real time placings daily during the majors and such, just a really good site.

I'd have to agree about the Shorthorn site. Some parts are useful, others not. It's not really user friendly either. Too many menus and such. Check out the Australian and Canadian sites. I think the US site is a lot like the breed itself is in the US right now, just kind of out there, not knowing which way to turn. JMO

has anyone been able to find out when the animal search feature will be back up on the ASA site? Not a real good time for it to be down wth people trying to make breeding decisions and the like. I've heard soon and we need time to work the bugs out. What was wrong with the old one?

This what I think I know about the ASA search feature - the old one was great to use could give you all sorts of info...my understanding is that ist was an Australian based system and that it was tied to the registration funcitons and that it was (get this all you youngsters) DOS based (so it was great for us to search but a pain for those who had to register cattle). Apparently the contract was not renewed and they are using/creating/ whatevering a new system --- apparently they have registered cattle but it isn't clear when the search engine will be up and running for us mortals - you are right - an inconvient time....
