Brown Fuzzy calves

What is the best way to handle the brown fuzzy calves if you hope to show it in a summer prospect show?

We have a stout Dr Who heifer we would like to play with before selling her this fall, but haven't ever liked what we tried with this kind of hair.....

Leave it all alone?  Trim it now months before the show to let it all brown over?

No cooler here...

We have taken cheap dollar store black hair dye and dyed them a few days before the show. From my experience, than only really works good if they're brown on thier legs or belly.

IF the calf was all brown and was sunburnt hair dye woudl work. but it looks like you have some roaning going on here. trying to color that calf could be disasterous. I will say a few years ago a young man had a steer on the jackpot cicuirt that was chocolate and white. They had that hair shining and looking amazingly healthy. Because they did he really stood out. If you are going to show this summer you could try to trim her and then start rinsing like crazy. I just think you will have a hard time trying to freshen up color. There might be some folks that are better wth color than me.

)) You'll have a train wreck if you try to dye it. I'd just work it and make sure it's healthy. I don't see how any judge could justify knocking a calf on the hair color as long as it's healthy and obviously being taken good care of.

I thank you for the input.

I think this heifer will have ok hair come winter, it is just that some calves have brown fuzzy hair their first summer.  If she is trimmed now a month before the show will it "brown up" more  evenly?  If I wait andd trim her a day before the show the trimmed areas will be black and the non trimmed brown.  Didn't like that look the time I tried it.

Just curious to see if there is anything that can be done with the fuzzy ones...

We will get to the hair care stuff soon as the corn and beans are planted.....
