Any Captain Morgan calves out there?

Exactly what is is breeding?

How big is he at maturity?

Thinking of using him on some black cows next year. Will they be smokes?

we got an orange one that was one of the first ones and he is weighing 750. i will post pictures when i get out of school. very sound calf and absolutly no holes in him besides he is a litlle short (horizontally). the bull himself is a beast and he is plenty big in my opinion. bred to a black cow i thank they will be smoke all though there was one or two blackones at skinners house (the owner) that were out of him. i would highly reccomend using him on anything if you want color and soundness and just complete calves

Nelson's Club Calf Paradise had a few and they looked pretty complete, but I've never used him

he is purebred if im not mistaken(hoodoo)i hear c.m is not heifer safe. but he wont be putting your cows at risk like most char bulls. he has a convienent birthweight from what ive herd for the owners.. . . and bart we have taken him out in 6 rings. undefeated in class as a limi all 6 times. along with two reserve breed champions at pretty well known and competitive jackpots. he is a june county calf so he shows against the fat major steers. giving up a lot of weight but he stands in there very nicely. .captian morgans bloodline (for everybody else to see is)
Sire: Hoo Doo Sand Creek 1126
Dam: Foxy Moxie (3-D x Charolais)
he is a double free as well

Spent some time looking this morning and found three different pedigrees on the bull.

Most credible one shows him to be 5/8 Charolais and 3/8 Ang/Sim
Sire PB Charolais  Dam 3/4  Ang/Sim  1/4 Charolais

She must be a heck of a cow.  She is Smilin' Bob's mother too.

it sadly isn't as simple as 50/50 smokes to blacks...more likely you'll get 34534 shades of smokey and a scattered black or two since white is as dominant in chars as black is in angus and simm...just my experiences across a few hundred char cross calves in my career

Im pretty sure rusty and sam can attest or comment on him but the cow he is out of is the mother to smilin bob which is a 3D X Charolais cow. She is called foxy moxie and marks her calves they are all pretty dang good. I had the pleasure of seein captain in the flesh and he is one that is worth trying on the freak cows. In my opinion he could use a little more expression/power in the lower quarter but other than that he is ideal for most our cattle, freak fronted, sound footed, colored right for slickin cattle, and great boned! A close friend has put him on many different types and the first one to hit the ground was a heifer calf not very big but mousy smoke colored and bronkled faced out of a gert X cow. This is one bull to try if you a looking for a complete calf or dont know what to put on your cows because I think there will be some cool ones down the road on him.

Carman, does Captain Morgan carry the diluter gene? I like your bull, but can't use him if he may throw any rattails. Has he been tested for the diluter gene? Thanks, Cab.

Talked to Scott today and he said that of all the calves of his that are out of Captain Morgan none of them have had rattails and we would think we would have seen at least one out of the frist group.  But he has not been tested, hope this answers your question.

Thanks Rusty. Captain Morgan is a bull that I am watching. I used some 3D this last year B/C of CM & Smilin Bob.
