What have you done to go from club calf to commercial with the club calf genetics in your heard?

I don't know if this helps much but I would go with solid color because where I'm from they really dock you on roans and spotted cattle when they run thru the local sale barn

First things first. You need a calving ease, low birth weight bull with light bone that will sire good females that will make cows. You then have to stop making excuses for your cows. Basically start culling them harder. I understand you can't cull them really hard because you would almost be getting rid of all your cows too quickly and have nothing left. You could start AI'ing your cows to a calving ease bull that is a sure thing instead of buying one. Really study first though, don't just use the bull because of the numbers or because an ad says they are heifer safe. Ask real questions from the breeder of the bull and people who use them in commercial situations.
Cull your cows for calving ease, fertility, foot problems, bad udders, not shucking hair, and then growth. Keep records of all your calves' BW, WW, and YW. Cull the replacements that have high BW and low WW. Good luck!
