Thanks Doc for the nice post and thanks to everyone for the nice comments.
Congratulations to Tom Brown of Spring Haven farm of Troy, Ohio. He has some awesome cows and thought Conductor would cross well with them; he was right! His heifer was the youngest heifer and won her class. The bull was also the youngest bull there. Actually, those calves were young because Tom leased Conductor after I was done using him.
A big 'Job Well Done' to Dennis Clark and his family. Tom has been very ill in the last year and the Clark's have been a great help. The cattle were as well presented as any I have ever seen.
Congratulations to Hunt Farms in Ontario for purchasing the heifer....one of the best buys in the sale. She sure has cow power genetics behind her: her dam was 14 years old and goes back to the Waukaru Red Nan family, Conductor is out of Spike (love the udders on his females) and my DZ cow who has a great udder. Add in the Nobody's Fool cow family and you have great females.
Thanks oakbar for the nice comments about King Kong. I just had two KK first calf heifers have heifers out of Conductor. The KK's are making great females. Good luck with your KK's.
When Tom had his first set of Conductor calves he called and told me they were all born unassisted, up and on the teat in less than an hour and "all their toes are pointing in the right direction". Soundness is what I like the best about the Conductor calves.....besides low birth weights.
Congratulations to Sue and Carla from Lakeside Farms for exhibiting the champion female.
Everyone that brought Shorthorns to the OBE needs a 'Way To Go'. I think that is the best set of cattle they have had since I have been going there. Congrats to all!
