JTM: I'm going to guess and say that OH is quite like IL-- in terms of "commercial" cow numbers-- not very in the real realm of things...

You're a long ways away from the big dogs out west...

cows live for a long time- if they are good...  Would you have much of CONSTANT market for these bred heifers in your area?

Very good question. I think with the right networking and marketing it could work. This is cattle country in my opinion. 2-2.5 acres per cow calf. People should be looking for bred heifers like these right now with the market the way it is.

Very good question. I think with the right networking and marketing it could work. This is cattle country in my opinion. 2-2.5 acres per cow calf. People should be looking for bred heifers like these right now with the market the way it is.

We've gotten by with an acre per cow-- with needed rain, on better dirt...  but I'd for sure think 2 acres would take care of most of IL, if not less-- in a continuous grazing system.
