DS carriers? Are they easy keeping?

Seems like bulls showing that they are DS carriers. Do other people think that? Gismo and Proud jazz and etc.. I got to wondering if this was the case.......would DS be linked to an easy keeping gene? And if it was than DS would not be a real bad problem. It may be an advantage. Could gene editing be done in the future to utilize this knowledge. And could it be the the Shorthorn breeds advantage down the line.

similar to piedmontese, and their double muscling gene being the only allele that will give an intermediate tenderness effect in a heterozygous state, it will be the case to breed cattle soon with this type of strategy in mind.

in other words, just like corn, in spite of vigorous denial by those with the additive strategy in mind, the university and government minded breeders and their adoptees.

it's pretty clear that strategy has an end in sight.

it is already being investigated in cattle, already deployed in horses.


there will be no breed advantage.


breeds will die, and for good reason.

i'd be surprised if easy keepers had the hill climbing genes, but you never know.

We were talking about this recently about PHA carriers. Ours seems to be easier fleshing, carry more muscle, milk well and have a lot of hair, but they all go back to Irish Whiskey. Will be interesting to see what develops as technology advances including what will become mainstream.
