I have a black and white patterned heifer that I want to dye but she has white half way up her legs... Any sugggestions on dying but keeping her white, white??
Make sure you put some type of oil on the white part of her legs like a final bloom, hocus pocus, etc before you apply any dye. Very carefully apply around the white areas and only use a spray bottle to apply the dye.
I cover the white spots on my calves with Vaseline. I wash the Vaseline out the following day with dawn dish soap and olive oil (the cooking kind) and then rinse them again with cheap hair conditioner. Just be really careful with where you're spraying the the dye.
Like everyone else said, you just have to be really careful.
Use lots of oil on the white...like LOTS. The bad part is that the black dye will turn the white parts purple! You will likely need a little black paint on show day.
We messed this one up once, and had to paint a whole lot of the white...like both of her front legs.
Take your time with the oil...it is worth the effort.
