Feeding corn cooked and dry?

How early is too early to start feeding corn (additional) to get a calf fat?  Have a american that seems like not getting there fast enough.  Worry about getting too tall... shows still months out (TX shows) so could you experienced (years feeders) offer some advise for my sons last year showing?

I don't know what your ration is, but with an American, that you think already a little framey, I would want at least 60% corn from the beginning.  You could go as high as 70%.  Just make sure you have plenty of fiber in the mix.
