knabe - you always enlighten me with your replies!

Here in SW missouri? I filled up on Monday, $2.83 (used a Walmart card, get 3 cents off a gallon). Today, most gas stations were $2.99 to $3.01.

Diesel is running $3.25 last I looked (hubby drives the truck, so he uses it most)

Regular gas here is 3.30 gallon, lol one gas station has a rewards card if u buy stuff like sodas, candy, ect u get points towards gas. Well cleaning my house today I found a card with 26 points on it and my other card had 30 points which gave me a total56 points which got me gas for $2.74 ;D lol i have this new trend of "eating out" is at the gas station  (clapping)

the irony in our prices is that there is a refinery in the same town....so you would think, well, every around thinks, we should have the cheapest gas considering trucking costs would be minimal...

diesel was 3.69

Here in Northern Iowa we jumped 10 cents overnight.  We were at $3.15 and now at $3.25.  2nd time it has jumped 10 cents in a week. Always wait to fill up when heading to Des Moines because it always is at least 10 cents cheaper down there...

diesel in NW IN  3.59

Now here is a thought.  If for 30 days certain stations were boycotted I wonder if a lowering war would go on?  Speedway is quite plentiful around here and when they heard prices were subject to jump, they took theirs up 30 cents that morning.  What if when they jumped, they lost business?  Hmmm.  Maybe the consumer can make a difference.  So if the dropped prices after that period then we go back and boycott a different station for 30 days to help keep this price down.  Everyone says we have no control over this, I think there is a chance that we do.  I know since the gulf spill, if I have a choice, BP isn't one of them.  With all the forums and social media, getting word out wouldnot be hard.  Just a thought.

I wish I had a couple of 500 gallon tanks -- I would have filled them last week and I would probably fill them this week because I think it is going to go up quite a bit more.  Especially if the Arabs get to shooting at each other and even more so if they take serious shots at Israel.  Taking shots at Israel is even more likely if islamic women take knabe's suggestion and start holding out or take it even further and quit cooking.

I think it is terrible that we don't have a president that will even address this oil problem.  Awful funny when Bush was in office the media was all over him.  Just another example of giving it to the middle class, along with health costs, food, energy, you name it. All    Obama has to do is say we are going too start drilling and the prices would lower.  But then the elected officials back pocket wouldn't get so big would it.    Good luck with input costs this spring!

Our diesel costs have been running $.60 more than gasoline.  Anyone know why there is such a cost differential?  Used to be it would narrow in the summer when heating oil is not being used much, but it doesn't seem to make sense why there is such a difference when a few years ago diesel cost less than gasoline.

I don't know what obama can do about prices right now.  This is because of issues in North Africa and the ME.  Oil is a worldwide market and effected by things worldwide, i would love energy independence, but then you have to make sure what is drilled and mined here stays here.  Why do i think that would be called socialism?
