Grinding hay for rations

Has anyone ever ground hay in there rations? Feed costs are getting high and I was thinking about either totally replacing the cotton seed hulls I now use or maybe at least cutting them back with some hay. Anyone that has done this let me know how it has worked for you or how you think it would work compared to csh. I have a grinder mixer with hammers so I was thinking running hay through the hammers to mix in the rations. Thanks
