I'm posting this here instead of the vet section because as you will see, I need help. I have been trying everything to stop this from spreading. Am probably going to try & get the vet out but I thought maybe someelse had some experience with thyp of skin problems. I thought at first it was mange but she has been dusted & I have used a pour-on too.
I am in desperate help. as you can see this is not my week!

the pour on Ivmec has always worked every well for us. After you pour her it should stop it from growing and i would do any cattle that she has been around. We use this horse stuff will Aloe in it to keep it from itching.

Red, has she been around any kind of engine oil or grease? I've seen something similar to this and tried everything until
I found out they were licking a motor that had oil on it, which caused a similar reaction.

This does not appear to be your run of the mill lice etc...since your powdered  her and poured her and it is spreading is suggests that it is something else. I would caution agains using any more dewormers/powders/delousers etc as these are toxic to the bug but can also build up in the animal and give her bigger broblems than an itchy ugly butt.

It looks like there are pustules on it -yes? It could be mange with a bacterial overgrowth (related to scratching and skin damage) - I'd get the vet out asap - beg him (her) to do a skin scraping to see the little buggers, get a diagnosis and then treat with the appropriate drug.

Keep yer chin up, DL

Red, I have not had anything exactly like what you are looking at.  I had a small one that looked similar and it was a bite of some type.  Best wishes....

no oil engine products or anything like that, Telos. Joe, I don't think it's a bite because she has several spots. I'll try & get vet out but w/ weather today may be rough!
thanks for the feedback,
Red
What would you put on it? I'm trying everything.

Red,
I have a possible treatment; Banana Cream.  A client of mine came up with this product a few years ago, and it has just recently hit the market.  The active ingrediant is Banana Peel extract.  It is amazing for any type of topical application.  I know I sound like an advertisement, but I know what this stuff will do.  It is beginning to show up in a few Veterinary Supply distributorships, and is still in clinicals on the human side.  The best way to get your hands on some, is through their website http://www.nutopicals.com

I work for the State, so I don't get anything out of this.  All my family now keeps Banana Cream in every bath room, car, purse, etc.  It will stop a wasp sting, fever blister, poison ivy immediately.  The extract even produces anti-microbals.  I'll bet it will clear up whatever that messy spot is on your cow.

It is finally looking better. I quit dusting her per DL's resistance idea. I know how they can get resistant to antibiotics, so don't want any super lice out there!
I've been slathering on Vaseline & the skin balm ointment. It's not as red as it was & it's starting to heal. I didn't have the vet out because we're still under level 3 snow emergency.
thanks for all the help!

Spots are looking much better. The raw areas are healing up & am getting some hair regrowth. Thanks Dan for the tip on the banana stuff. I got it yesterday & put it on. Really smells good! Liked the way it went on too. I'm lucky she is so tame. She just stands there while I put the stuff on her. don't even have to tie her up. I think she likes the attention. I'm going to sit her out until the Ohio Beef Expo, don't want to take any chances.
Thanks for all the advice! It's nice to be able to post a picture so everyone gets a better idea of what your dealing with!
