Gas prices are soaring and some analysts are saying that by mid summer they could be 30% higher yet. I heard yesterday that in 1973, oil was priced at $3.65/ barrel and wheat that year was also priced at $3.65 / bushel. Now oil is priced at $100 / barrel ( or more) and wheat is somewhere around $6.40/ bushel.( I didn't take the time to look up the price). In 1973, you could buy a new 4x4 3/4 ton truck for about $3800- $4000. I think they are a bit higher today. What really gets me, is that some people think that selling a bull today at $1600 is a good price to get. In 1973, the upset price ( the price below which a bull would be a no sale) was $1600 at the Regina Bull Sale. Something tells me we are not keeping up!

I saw this picture of a gas station with some humour and thought it was fitting for the times. The bottom sign is a bit hard to read. It says" We provide onsite home refinancing to help with  gas purchase"
