If you have experience with leasing bulls to use or for someone else to use I was wondering how you determined price, length of time, returning bull, etc. I am considering it and want to know what others have done. Thank you!

We had leased a bull a couple of years ago. We paid $500 and he signed my papers to get heifers registered. I had the bull for about 10 months because of conflicting schedules for pick up. I should have just kept him because I leased him again the next year. Anyhow, the owner always delivered the bull and then picked him up afterwards. He had a bull that had a bad trailer experience and said after that he would deliver and pick up. I am also thinking about leasing out my bull and that is how I would do it.

We just returned a bull we leased for 2 months.  (clubby bull) actually let us have him for 3, but pretty costly $2000 per month.  So we paid $4K total.  We're just hoping he took care of our 42 cows, but doubt it.  Hoping for the best though for next calving season.  Wanted to AI but just tough since we're not there all the time.  Depends I guess what type of bull you lease.  We paid the guy in full, got the bull, took the bull back.  Depends I guess on who you deal with.  GOOD LUCK.  Noticed you are Braunvieh, I love braunvieh, would love to have some cross cows, but haven't found any yet.  Where are you.
