I have shown steers for the last 5 years in FFA this is my last year that i am allowed to show so i thought i would switch it up a little and i got a market heifer to jackpot and to show at my county fair. When i first got my heifer she was as sweet as could be, but in this last few weeks shes been nothing but a pain. She lets me walk up and put the halter on her, she loves to get a bath and blown off she also doesnt mind the show stick at all. But getting her to to walk is another story. She will not walk with just me pulling someone has to stand behind her and when she does finally decide to walk she tries to take off and run away sometimes im able to stop her other times not so much. I even tried taking my dad out there who is alot bigger than i am to see if that would help but she does the same thing. i have my first jackpot in about a month and im just stumped on what to do to get her to walk and stop taking off . Ive watched halter breaking videos on youtube and tried someone the tricks but nothing really seems to have an affect. Any advice would help alot since my jackpot is in little less than a month away!

Thanks so much!

Donkey would be great for her.  She will go when she gets pulled on, and she will stop when she decides she wants to take off.

Second a good donkey.Cattle are creatures of habit and will do the same thing to get away most everytime similar to bucking bulls and horses. The  rodeo announcers can tell you almost exactly what they will do.I have helped break some with problems and if you can stop them from their bad habit they will stop.Had one family that could not handle a steer and he knew exactly how to get away so put  a lariot around his neck and when he reached end and threw himself a couple times it was over and they actually won showmanship with him.
