While rummaging through my Dads tank the other day we found some old angus semen that he said was quite popular in thier day. the bulls in question are Scotch Cap, Paragon and Broker. Are any of you familiar with these bulls, and is there a place for them in todays show calf genetics

The Scotch Caps can be rambunctious and milk was an issue. They could get big, but normally made good feeders that grew.  The Leachman bull, I'm not sure. He shows up in some of the better show cattle pedigrees.  I believe ABS listed him about 20 years ago.  GCC Broker still has a place, but they might get a bit tall and his numbers are not the best, but on a smaller framed, square hipped cow, he could work.  I remember he would add butt and pretty them up.  I will try to get some old ads on these bulls.

I certainly would not be afraid to sample these bulls on stouter made, smaller framed cows.  Although, if you are going through the work to AI, you may want more info.  None of these bulls are heifer bulls.
